ማይገነት

I am an Ethiopian American Artist and Educator. Art has been the only constant thread that has appeared and survived through the different layers of my life's journey. Art making is my prayer protecting and feeding me like my mother's womb. Creating my work has grounded me with the spirituality and strength of my ancestors, and this is my strongest voice in my journey. At times it is not what I am creating rather the process of my practice! This thread has help me overcome all my challenges. My art is my identity. Even when I did not recognize it in my younger self, my art has always been rooted and fueled with symbolism of Abyssinia of Nubia of Ethiopia!
